SECRC Launches InformedCarpenter.com

The Southeastern Carpenters Regional Council has launched InformedCarpenter.com, a new website dedicated solely to providing information to members regarding politics.

“Knowledge is power, and an informed union carpenter is a powerful force to be reckoned with, because when carpenters vote, politicians listen,” said SECRC Political Director Brett Hulme. “We want to give members every tool possible so they can educate themselves on issues and make informed choices at the ballot box.”

Information to be posted on InformedCarpenter.com as election cycles evolve will include federal, state, and local races. Information is not bent toward any party.

“We practice a non-partisan effort to support candidates who champion the goals of carpenters, promote needed infrastructure investments, and support fair trade,” Hulme said. “In the 2020 elections, the SECRC supported 20 democrats and 17 republicans, and 80 percent of that combined group won.”

InformedCarpenter.com features an “Ask the Political Director” section, where members can send questions to Political Director Hulme and receive a personal reply. All Q&A’s are also listed on the site for review.

A "Current Actions" section displays current political activity throughout the Council. A "Current Issues" section details topics affecting union carpenters and our livelihood. The site also provides a voter registration center.

In addition to political news that affects SECRC members, the news section contains dedicated information centers for Tax Fraud, the U.S. Department of Labor, the American Rescue Plan, the Infrastructure Bill, and Build Back Better.
