Apprenticeship Training:

The Atlanta Carpenters Training Center is a Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship school with many diverse programs available for study.  We are affiliated with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.  As one of the largest training facilities, we offer exclusive hands on training in commercial construction.  We strive to educate the next generation of well-rounded, knowledgeable, Journeyman Carpenters here in Atlanta.  We do this through diversity and productivity while implementing state of the art workforce strategies to all apprentices.

All Applicants wanting to join the Apprenticeship Program should contact Bill Blackburn to schedule an appointment.  Our normal office hours for applications and interviews are between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.  You’ll need to review the Apprenticeship Standards and receive an informational handout.  You can usually fill out the application and get an interview in one visit.

The following items can add to your standing on our waiting list:

1.         Proof of training or experience in Blueprint Reading or Drafting

2.         A School or Business reference (A letter from an employer or teacher)

3.         Welding Certificates and Transcripts

4.         Trade or Vocational School transcripts

5.         For Veterans, a copy of your DD-214

6.         Written proof of work experience in any of the three examination areas. (Carpentry, Scaffold Erection, Interior Systems)

If you do not have any of these items, you can still fill out the application and get the interview, but your placement on the waiting list will be lower.

If you have 3-5 years of documented experience as a Carpenter, Scaffold Erector or Interior Systems Specialist, we will schedule you for a diagnostic exam or hands-on evaluation so that you can be assigned to the appropriate level.

You must be a member in good standing of Local Union 225 to join the program and must remain a member in good standing to remain enrolled in the program.

All members of Local Union 225 can attend classes at the Atlanta Carpenters Training Center for FREE. We encourage Journeyman members to take full advantage of continuing education to increase their skills and knowledge. This continued training can help you become more productive on the jobsite which will make you a valuable asset that any company would like to have on their payroll.
